Yesterday was the beta launch of StubleUpon’s Explore Box and of course I was very keen play around with this new toy straight away. If you are not familiar with StumbleUpon, here’s a quick 101:
StumbleUpon is a social site to help you discover and share amazing websites, as they put it: “as you click, Stumble!” The site will expose you to all your friends’ recommendations as well as cherry picked pages that match your personal preferences. And with over 15 million users, plenty of things have already been ‘stumbled’.
For those of you that follow me on Twitter, you’ll know that I love astronomy, and StumbleUpon has been a key source of information to feed my passion. I have other preferences too, such as Advertising and Social Media, however in the past, I have found StumbleUpon’s 500+ topics restrictive, particularly when I want to find something more specific – whether that be a new band or a cocktail recipe.
StumbleUpon have listened to the feedback of their users and the answer is the Explore Box. It is now easier than ever for me to navigate StumbleUpon and find the things I love. Check out their YouTube video to see the Explore Box in action:
Gone are the days where I wait for my weekly recommendations to fall into my inbox. StumbleUpon and me are going to be seeing a lot more of each other for the foreseeable future.
